Step into the enchanting and artistic world of Edi Matsumoto on Mission St. in Carmel. After three decades in healthcare, Edi embraced her passion as an artist and designer.
She invites you to Carmel’s newest gallery and boutique, a kaleidoscope of her award-winning paintings and colorful and elegant wearable art. Her paintings have earned acclaim internationally. About
Edi Matsumoto
Edi Matsumoto was born and raised in Japan. Her maternal great-grandfather was a traditional Japanese artist who painted birds, flowers, and snow-capped mountains using an ink brush technique. She grew up in an environment where art was valued. Her interest
in art was cultivated at an early age.
Edi Matsumoto holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Tsukuba University in Japan. After traveling around Southeast Asia exploring cultures and volunteering at the Mother Theresa’s Home for the Dying Destitutes in Calcutta, India, she came to the U.S. She earned a Master’s degree in Nursing, and she has worked in the healthcare field for nearly thirty years.
Encouraged by her husband, Fred, who saw her sketch (left bottom) from 20 years prior, Matsumoto began taking art classes at a community college. In 2018, she earned her second Master’s degree in Fine Art from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

Membership plans
Welcome to Creative Connections, a vibrant community where local creatives come together to exchange ideas, visions, and knowledge. Our members support one another, offering constructive feedback and fostering collaboration. The Hub provides a safe, nurturing space for participants to explore new ideas, learn from each other, and enhance their presentation and self-expression skills as artists and, if applicable, as business owners.
We offer three levels of membership:
Van Gogh level
Artist Membership
This membership tier enables artists to network and exchange artistic and business insights through regular meetings (1-2 times per month). Members have opportunities to showcase their work, not only to share their art and business experiences but also to refine their presentation skills.
Monet level
Art Class Membership
Members at this level can participate in 1-2 art classes per month covering different genres. Additionally, they are welcome to attend all meetings available at the Van Gogh level.
Medici level
Art Supporter Membership
This membership level allows individuals to contribute to the sustainability of Creative Connections and its support for local emerging and underrepresented artists. Art Supporters receive recognition on our website, event calendar, and at each event. They have access to all meetings and classes offered at the Van Gogh and Monet levels.
